Anchor Text – Are You Using The Right Anchor Text ?

by ImBizJourney

Anchor Text is the link label – It is the clickable text in hyperlink.

When you are creating links to pages on your website, make sure you are using the right anchor text – Otherwise the whole point of creating the link is a waste.

anchor-text-link Assume you are linking to page A from page B, the anchor text should be the keyword you are trying to get the page A ranked for.

When you are asking other webmasters for reciprocal links, make sure you send them the html for your link. For example, for my website http://www.OzKidsActivities.com, when I am asking for reciprocal links I send the following html code in the email – (enclose in <> and place < after the word 'Australia')

‘a href=”http://www.OzKidsActivities.com”>Kids Activities In Australia/a’.

When this code is placed in the web page, it translates into – Kids Activities In Australia.

The keyword I am trying to get my site ranked for is the anchor text…

When creating internal links as well make sure you are using the right keywords for anchor text. Internal links play a very important role in search engine optimization – so don’t make your internal link a waste, be sure to use the right keyword for the anchor text.

Do you know what keyword Adobe ranks for – It is ‘click here’. Most of us when linking to adobe say something along the line -’if you don’t have pdf reader, you can get it when you click here‘ – in the cyber world there are so many links pointing to adobe with the anchor text ‘click here’ – And so Adobe ranks number one for the phrase ‘click here’.

This example illustrates the importance of using the right keyword. But of course adobe is so popular, so with or without the links, people will still use it. Unfortunately we are all not adobe, so for us anchor text plays a very important role in our rankings.

When you write and submit articles, in your signature make sure you use the right anchor text – So many people just use the link – What a waste !!!! And then some use the wrong text – Use anchor text but not just any text, use the keyword as the anchor text.

How about you – do you always use anchor text ?

Best,
