This morning I am listening to David Jenyns and Lynn Terry – David interviewed Lynn in Feb – In the interview she shares a lot of great tips on getting traffic for your affiliate marketing sites.

Every time I listen to Lynn Terry, I seem to be picking up a new tip .

And most her tips are simple common sense tips – tips that are usually so obvious but most people miss out on !!!

In this interview she specifically talks about getting links to your affiliate sites. Links is the core of search engine optimization. I myself have lately been concentrating a lot of efforts into link building and as a result I am seeing a good increase in my traffic.

David is an excellent interviewer – He really asks some in-depth questions – He seems to make the person he is interviewing quite comfortable and as a result they share a lot of tips in his interview.

Towards the end of the interview, Lynn shares what she thinks is one big mistake people starting out in the internet marketing industry are making – Loved the answer and was exactly the mistake I made too when I started out.

Do you have a website that has music added to it – I mean, does music start playing as soon as someone lands on your main page ? If you do, then you might want to skip this post because you are not going to like what I am going to say…On the contrary, you should actually read this post because it will give you an insight into the minds of majority of web surfers…

Who in the right mind would want to add music to a website ? – By ‘adding music to a website’, I am only referring to websites which start playing music as soon as you land on them.

I have always had a dislike for such websites and exit out of them as soon as I can find the close button.

If you have a website which starts playing music, then here are some reasons you should re-think your decision – read this before you decide to add music to your website:

1. What if the reader is listening to some other music on his computer while he types in your url – his music listening is interrupted by your music – offensive !!!

2. What if there is a baby sleeping in the same room as the computer. As soon as the working mamma or dadda types in your url, music pops up and the child wakes up – offensive !!!

3. What are you trying to convey to the visitor by playing the music immediately upon his arrival – that you are loud person and don’t really care about others – all that matters is your website – offensive !!!

In their defense these website owners say that there is always a mute button on the page – all that the visitor has to do is click the button and stop the music. But you see it is not always that simple – Most of the websites I have been to, have this ‘mute’ button well hidden – It is not at an obvious spot – And by the time I find the button, I am annoyed and so I decide to completely close the site.

How about you have the option to play music on your page and play the music only if the visitor clicks that option – Don’t play straight away !!!

Just my thoughts – Anyways, what are your opinions about websites that start playing music as soon as you land on them ?
