My New Affiliate Site – Day One
In an earlier post I had mentioned that I will be recording my new affiliate site project’s daily progress on this blog. Today is my Day One….
I spent around a week in December researching various markets for my new affiliate site – I use Wordtracker (free version) to find the number of searches and Google to analyze the competition.

At the end of the week, I finally decided on my market. It is a very specific market – micro niche. But in future, I can kind of diversify and add more products (related to my original product) – products that can help my visitors. |
I am quite excited about the potential and the possibilities.
Today, I started my new project – I searched for a few domain names on GoDaddy and after about half an hour, after various possible searches, I finally decided on my domain name. I registered the domain name on GoDaddy. I made my settings private for this domain name.
When you make your domain name settings private, no one can find out who the owner is – if you go to Whois.net, it will display the domain name’s owner details for private domains.
I have decided to use a pen name for my affiliate site and this is why I made my settings private on GoDaddy.
I have picked a nice pen name – and have even created a signature for this pen name – using my favorite online signature creator.
I use HostMonster for hosting all my websites. I have been with them for almost 3 years now – quite happy with what they offer – covers all my needs (and more
). They have a control panel and installing WordPress (using Fantastico) is just 3 clicks.
I transferred the domain hosting for my new site from GoDaddy to HostMonster. Sometimes it takes around couple of hours for the transfer to complete and some times it is instantaneous. I normally do my transfer just before I have some errands to run – I did the same today as well – I did this job just before the ‘wake-up’ time of my kids – After doing my part of the transfer, I attended to the morning chores of my kids.
After a couple of hours, I came back and logged into HostMonster – the transfer was all complete. I then installed wordpress on my new website. The new site will be based on WordPress. WordPress is my choice because it is simple to use, flexible and huge amount of products in the market to enhance it.
This completes my day one and on day two I will be installing a new premium theme for my wordpress based site.
I have already decided on which theme I will be using. I will write a complete review and the reasons why I chose this particular theme before I start my Day Two.
Best,

P.S: I will be creating this site based on what I learned in Super Affiliate Handbook.
