Titan WordPress Theme

by Sandy Naidu

Last couple of days I have been playing and viewing quite a few wordpress themes. This blog needed a makeover and I wanted to spend some time reviewing the free themes available – So I took my time, downloaded and installed quite a few themes – around three made the shortlist and the vast majority were not to my taste.

I was after a clean, simple and a free theme. And finally yesterday morning, I decided on the Titan theme by Jestro. And as you can see, I have downloaded, installed and activated the Titan theme for my blog. I love it and I hope you like it too !!!

titan-wordpress-theme Themes By Jestro is wordpress theme design company – They currently have two themes and both of them are free.

The two themes are Vigilance and Titan. Vigilance is another clean, simple and beautiful wordpress theme. This theme has often been compared to Thesis theme (the popular paid theme).

Apart from the simplicity and elegance of both the themes, code wise they are both very clean and straightforward – and this is where the real benefit of these two themes kicks in – Due to the way it is written and put together it is very easy to customize. In fact you can change the colors of hyperlinks, add things to your sidebar and footer, all without touching the code.

You can also change the header graphic of both the themes (without touching the code) – however though you have to be a member for doing this. The membership has a one-time membership fee of 44 dollars. I decided to give the membership a miss and keep my header graphic as is – at least for now.

The code is very SEO friendly - There are header tags where they have to be, archived pages automatically no-indexed (so no duplicate content), important keywords are placed on the top etc – all done in the code by Jestro.

Titan theme has a good set of online tutorials – all for free. I am okay with opening the code and making some changes here and there – not very comfortable but I would still be opening the code and make some changes (most with a ‘trial and error’ approach). So far though for this theme, I have not done much changes – just changed some line spacing on my header but other than that I have not touched the code. In the next couple of months I will be adding a few things to my sidebar and footer. But that’s about it – What I am trying to say here is that Titan theme is very simple and requires minimum work from your side.

At the end of my long wordpress theme search, I have a ‘happy’ smile on my face – I am glad I found Titan Theme – very pleased.
