Five Most Common Reasons A Blogger May Get Writers Block…

by ImBizJourney

Writers Block is usually associated with ‘professional writers’. As bloggers we write a lot of content everyday – We might not be professional writers in the traditional sense but writing and blogging are very closely related – there is no blogging without writing. And so, bloggers can also experience writers block now and then.

Wikipedia defines writers block as:

Writer’s block is a condition, associated with writing as a profession, in which an author loses the ability to produce new work. The condition varies widely in intensity. It can be trivial, a temporary difficulty in dealing with the task in hand. At the other extreme, some “blocked” writers have been unable to work for years on end, and some have even abandoned their careers.

what are the five most reasons a person may get writers block Sometimes, we bloggers get writers block mainly because we are tired and over worked – we just need a break from our work and after a few hours or days or weeks of relaxation, we come back running to our blogs.

This kind of writers blocks is easily cured. But there are other more serious reasons why a blogger can get writers block. And I am going to explore those reasons in this post. Let’s get started:

Five most common reasons a person (a blogger) may get writers block:

1. Lack of Ideas: Nothing new comes to your mind. You feel you have run out of all your ideas and there is nothing new to post. No ideas and so nothing to write about.

2. Lack of Inspiration: You might not find any inspiration to write a new post for your blog. There are many reasons for lack of inspiration but from a bloggers perspective it is usually because the blogger is convinced that no one is reading his bog anyway and so there is no point in posting. This attitude of ‘no one cares’ can so cause the blogger to lose interest in his blog.

3. Misconceived Project: This is one of the big reasons for losing interest, no inspiration and lack of ideas – In fact this is the mother of all reasons for writers block.

It is important to pick a niche that is close to your heart – only then ideas will comes, only then inspiration will flow through and only then will you post regularly.

One clarification though – I have affiliate sites in markets I don’t have much interest in and I usually have a blog attached to these affiliate sites. On this blog I write using my pen names – these blogs are not my primary blogs – On these blogs the objective from the start was never to post regularly and make it a popular blog in that industry. These blogs are there to primarily enhance my affiliate sites and drive traffic to it. On these blogs I post around once a month and sometimes even less frequently.

So, when I am talking about picking a niche close to your heart, I am not talking about these kind of add on blogs – I am talking about your primary blog(s). For me this blog is my primary blog. It is the central area of my entire business.

4. No Money: Let’s face it – money is the reason why you are in business. If you are not in it for money then stop calling it your business, call it your hobby. If you are not earning money then you start getting distracted. You need to see your work get rewarded – If there is no money then you will end up feeling there is no recognition for your work and slowly lose interest.

5. Too Many Projects: Internet Marketers are notorious for this – So easy to get distracted in this industry !!! If you have multiple projects running at any given time, then you have your hands in too many pots and you won’t find honey in any of the pots. When you have your mind racing in many different directions then you will lose focus and eventually ideas will stop coming, inspiration will go down and you will lose momentum to continue posting to your blog.

In my next post I will be writing about steps you can take to get rid of your writers block…Stay tuned.
