Who Owns A Domain Name & How To Protect The Privacy Of Your Domain ?

by ImBizJourney

Owner information of domain names is public information (unless your domain name is private). If you want to find out who owns a domain name, hop over to WhoIs and type in the domain name you want to find out more about. If the domain name is not private, then you can get all the owner information here – owner name, address, hosting details, phone numbers etc.

If you want to use pen names or want to keep your contact information private then you need to make your domain name private.

You can either do this at the time of registration or can do it at a later time.

I use Go Daddy for all my domain registrations – In my Go Daddy Account, under domain manager, for each domain there is a setting for Privacy. I click that setting for enabling the privacy (quite simple really, you have to pay around $8 and then the privacy will set in for the domain name). This is an annual charge.

Unless it is domain name where you want your privacy protected there is no point enabling this feature – it can turn out to be quite costly.

I just went to Go Daddy this morning and turned on the privacy settings for my new affiliate domain name – because I will be using a pen name for that site.

Best,
